Major Responsibilities:<ul><li>Perform all ultrasound examinations according to department protocols and ACR standards. Uses proper imaging techniques and equipment to obtain scans of optimal quality.<ul><li>    1)Positions patient, adjusts equipment and immobilize patients to ensure optimal quality exams are obtained.</li><li>    2)Assist physician during invasive procedures, adhering to sterile techniques, conducting timeout and completing all paperwork accuratly.</li><li>    3)Operates portable ultrasound equipment when required to perform portable procedures as requested throughout the hospital.</li></ul></li><li>Resposible for documenting pertinent history for each procedure, in order to provide the radiologist with adequate information prior to interpretation.<ul><li>    1)Obtains appropriate medical histories and completes comment sheet for each patient.</li><li>    2)Communicates and/or Fax “STAT” reports to physician offices, nursing units, and Emergency Department upon request, complying with critical value criteria.</li><li>    3)Correlate current exam data with that from the patient’s prior exams.</li><li>    4)Routine operation of department PAC's system.</li><li>    5)Communicates with Radiologists in order to assure exam completeness.</li></ul></li><li>Adherence to all accepted safety standards and practices to insure patient safety and quality patient care.<ul><li>    1)Maintains CPR certification to futher ensure safety of patients in department.</li><li>    2)Complies with OSHA Standards for infection control to prevent cross-contamination to patients and instruments.</li><li>    3)Maintains awareness of safety hazard labels, pathology specimen, completed lab requisitions for delivery to appropriate lab departments.</li><li>    4)Cleans, prepares, and sanitizes transducers for scanning according to manufacturer recommendations and established infection control standards.</li><li>    5)Attends mandatory in-services / meetings.</li><li>    6)Assures accuracy of exam perfromed and patient identification according to hospital policy.</li><li>    7)Compliance with Accrediting Organization, ACR, IDPH, and EPA standards is required.</li></ul></li><li>Provides technical support for smooth and efficient operation of Ultrasound Department.<ul><li>    1)Interacts closely with the Ultrasound supervisor to provide for smooth daily operation of the department.</li><li>    2)Helps in answering telephone, creating requisitions, etc. as needed.</li><li>    3)Demonstrates reliability for attendance and punctuality.</li><li>    4)Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility for change. May be asked to work at any Condell location.</li><li>    5)Works as a team member.</li><li>    6)Transports patients as requested.</li><li>    7)Explains to patients any delay in testing.</li></ul></li><li>Responsible for staying abreast of current ultrasound skills and new developements in the field of ultrasound.<ul><li>    1)Maintains continuing education required for ARDMS certification.</li><li>    2)Shares knowledge obtained from attending seminars and through articles with other staff.</li><li>    3)Performs the required tasks to compile data required for continuous quality improvement.</li></ul></li><li>Provision of instruction and orientation to students, technologists, and new technologists to effectively participate in the the assessment of their performance reviews.<ul><li>    1)Provides direction and instruction to U/S technologist or student in need of assistance with specific procedures.</li></ul></li><li>Participation in problem-solving issues addressing patients, department operations, quality assurance procedures, interdepartmental relationships and emplyee morale.<ul><li>    1)Maintains positive "guest relations" and telephone etiquette following prescribed departmental policies and procedures.</li><li>    2)Thoroughly communicates technical procedural infromation to patient in a positive and freindly manor without revealing diagnosis.</li></ul></li></ul> Education/Experience Required:<ul><li>Graduate of AMA approved School of Ultrasound</li></ul> Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities Required:<ul><li>Possess high degree of technical knowledge to perform U/S studies. Able to make diagnostic judgments when scanning and present them to the Radiologist.</li><li>Registry eligible CPR Certification within 30 days of hire. New hire must be ARDMS certified within 1 year of graduation. Job Summary

Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion and skilled dialogue, the registered nurse leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience. The nurse delivers and coordinates patient-centered care across the continuum to support the successful transition of patients to other healthcare delivery systems or their home communities. The registered nurse is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the appropriate utilization of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Current IL RN license
BSN preferred, ADN acceptable with agreement for nurses with less than 12 months of experience to enroll in BSN completion program to be completed in four years.  Nurses with more than 12 months experience in direct patient care must possess a BSN or obtain either BSN or Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) recognized nursing certification within one year of the date of hire or becoming eligible to sit for certification, whichever is later.

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts in order to accommodate staffing
