What will you do?

Title: Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Type: PRN

Location: 1051 Southfield Drive, Plainfield, IN 46168

The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.

Assessment

Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services.
Document and reassess any significant patient condition changes in compliance with
facility policy.
Report any signs or symptoms of infection in patients to the Infection Control Nurse.
Verify the accuracy of patient records.
Intervention

Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem-solving, and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions.
Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as
the plan of care.
Employ facility-approved CPI techniques as necessary.
Accurately and timely administer medication to patients.
Transcribe and accurately carry out physicians'/licensed practitioners' treatment orders.
Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
Treatment Planning

Formulate and prioritize a plan of care based on patient assessment and according to policy.
Participate in the development of an interdisciplinary treatment plan with specific and
measurable goals, objectives, and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs.
Update and revise the plan as goals/objectives are met or when the patient's condition changes.
Document both the nursing interventions on the treatment plan and the patient's response to the
intervention.
Milieu

Assure patients are adequately oriented to the program.
Monitor program activity and encourage patient participation.
Assess, implement, and coordinate nursing care to patients during episodes of care.
Provide structure and maintain a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patient and other healthcare providers.
Consistently utilize universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines.
Conduct structured didactic groups with patients and families.
Utilize self as a role model to promote health communication.
Teaching

Provides education to patients and families based on their identified needs and limitations, such
as communication, interpersonal, and social skills, as well as basic principles of physical health.
Provide and document discharge instructions, including food and drug interactions, diets, and
activities as appropriate.
Evaluate and document the effectiveness of all patient teaching.
Provides opportunities for patients and families to question, discuss, and explore their feelings
about prescribed therapies/interventions/diagnosis.
Performance

Assign patient care responsibility to other members of the nursing team.
Participate in quality assurance programs.
Collaborate with other team members.
Act as the patient's advocate and assure that patient rights are upheld.
Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations and risk
management, Washington Department of Health, CMS, and Joint Commission standards.
Utilize time constructively and in an organized manner to accomplish assigned responsibilities.
Demonstrate guest relations in communication, cooperation, and assistance to patients,
physicians/licensed practitioners, co-workers, and visitors promptly and courteously.
Follow facility, departmental, and personnel policies and procedures
Comply with the employee Code of Ethics.
Works overtime in case of emergency or as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Attends mandatory educational programs and annual in-services.
Oversees the work of LPNs and MHTs and provides direction as necessary.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Requirements:

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility is preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Indiana State Board of Nursing as an RN.

Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior, including restraint and seclusion policies, within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.

Hendricks Behavioral Hospital is a state of art behavioral health and addictions hospital that opened in 2021 in the city of Plainfield, Indiana. HBH provides a full continuum of both inpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs for adults with mental health and chemical dependency disorders. HBH provides both inpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs for adolescents ages 13 to 17 with mental health and dual diagnosis disorders.
Services include free initial screenings, assessments, inpatient and outpatient services, and aftercare referrals. Patients can expect a safe, caring environment with trained staff who will provide outstanding care.
