Position overview:

The Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for providing professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care and acts as a patient education resource. Functions as primary liaison between patients and providers. Each position has specific requirements with unique duties and responsibilities. This position may require travel between clinic locations.

Essential Functions:

* Accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient &amp; family education and transitions of care.
* Effectively practice within the model as established by PRH, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
* Establish and maintain communication and collaboration with colleagues, patients and community members, to promote teamwork and positive patient outcomes.
* Plan and prioritize work for patient care plans and daily planning of clinic to maintain professional delivery of nursing care.
* Interview patients and care givers to assist in the patient care plan based on nursing assessment, utilizing evidenced based practices.
* Document patient care conversations, care provided and all other work as defined by organizational standards in the EMR.
* Coordinates care as defined by organizational standards for defined patient panel.
* Decision-Making based upon professional nursing judgment within legal scope of practice.
* Promotes and contributes to a positive work environment, serving others with professional and positive attitude.
* Responsible to train, demonstrate, or guide others in the performance of assigned work, includes, but not limited to, new staff, precepting medical assistants in training and nursing students.
* Accountable to stay current with the changes in professional nursing and hospital policy. Ensure completion of regulatory and departmental competencies within the timeframe set by your supervisor.
* Completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner. Uses appropriate delegation to assist in patient care.
* Active participation in quality improvement projects throughout the organization.
* Maintain a clean and safe work area and take responsibility for departmental space.
* Participation in organizational wide new employee orientation, successful completion of departmental orientation, and other assigned committees and meetings.
* Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility. The expectation is that the employee will be present and on-time for all scheduled shifts.

Required Skills:

Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, and Experience:

* Maintain nursing licensure, in good standing, acceptable in the State of Washington.
* Active BLS (basic life support) certification.

Preferred Education, Certifications, and Experience:

* Experience in ambulatory clinic setting.
* BSN.

Physical Requirements:

* Sitting: 60%. Standing/Walking: 40%.
* Occasional lifting/carrying of supplies and patient related equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
* Occasional climbing of stairs to reach other levels of the building.
* Occasional stooping/kneeling to access documents and supplies in lower cabinets.
* Frequent reaching/handling/fingering to complete paperwork, operate telephone, and computer.
* Constant talking/hearing/seeing to interact with patients, staff, physicians, and visitors.

Environmental Conditions:

* Location: Inside.
* Must wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, masks, gowns, and gloves to provide protection from blood and other bodily fluids.
* Frequent exposure to noise may cause distraction.

Travel Requirements:

May require travel between Moscow, Pullman, and Palouse to other clinics or the hospital for staff coverage or meetings.
