What is a Histology Tech?
Histology techs, also known as histologic technicians, are allied health professionals who specialize in receiving, preparing, and processing tissue specimens to be examined and analyzed under a microscope by a pathologist. They’re specialized medical laboratory workers who play a crucial role in understanding how diseases work and in the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. Without the skills of highly trained allied health professionals like histology techs, identifying and understanding disease processes wouldn’t be possible. Their contributions can also lead to important breakthroughs in medical treatments.
