Registered Nurse 2 Specialty, UHT - Cardiovascular

The Registered Nurse 2 delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care. The Registered Nurse 2 oversees nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice.

Department Specific Functions

Provides care to patients with cardiac conditions by triaging and performing health assessment, medication reconciliation and/or treatments as directed by physicians/providers.

Identifies and prioritizes nursing care needs for patients/families.

Establishes methods to evaluate and document nursing interventions and plan of care.

Plans, evaluates or modifies treatment program based on information gathered by reviewing and interviewing patient’s records and/or patient feedback.

Provides education to patient based on current treatment plan including pre and post-operative guidance.

Pre-procedural assessment of patients prior to TEE/Cardioversions to ensure appropriate scheduling while also providing pre-procedural education and medication instructions to all patients.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to manage patient throughput.

Leads the intraprocedural process to ensure patients safety and adhere to departmental policies.

Manage patients recovering from procedural sedation and discharge home.

Maintain proficiency in recognition of cardiac rhythms.

Optimizes patient care by performing 24-hour discharge phone calls for post procedural symptom management and patient satisfaction.

Prefer competence in administration of moderate sedation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor’s degree (BSN) preferred.  RNs hired with an Associates (ASN) degree have 2 years to complete the BSN degree.

Certification and Licensing:

Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, ACLS, BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
