Social Worker
Weekends - Registry (LSW/LPC)

The ED Mental Health Counselor (also known as ED A&R Clinician) is responsible for assisting in the process of responding to referrals and other requests for services and information in the ER at Silver Cross. The A&R Clinician assesses all ages and collaborates with a physician to determine a proper disposition. The A&R Clinician provides technical assistance to the discharge planning process, under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor. The A& R Clinician is often the first contact with the community and therefore excels at providing resources, and support to callers and walk-ins and assessments in the ER. The A&R Clinician provides general support to the case management program.

Document and process inquiry calls according to Intake policies.
Assess and stabilize patients before discharge or arrange hospital admission.
Notify and assist the on-call doctor with patient interviews.
Obtain administrative approval for all admissions.
Complete admission paperwork following hospital policy.
Maintain an intake log with all necessary information documented.
Make follow-up calls to patients who fail to show up for appointments.
Demonstrate guest relations by example and provide counseling to employees in need of training.
Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills; and have strong clinical assessment skills preferred.

Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Illinois as a mental health professional or in the process of obtaining a mental health license or in a master’s program in mental health field.

Additional Requirements: A working knowledge of a Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field.
