Department: MedSurg Oncology | RN
**MedSol PreScreen/Manager Interview**
- Unit: Medical Surgical Boise Hospital Flr 4 - Oncology
- # of Beds: 24
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:3-4
- Required certifications: BLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: BMT, oncology, GYN ONC surgeries, hospice, med/surg
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Prefer Chemo/oncolgy and/or BMT experience. Okay with 1 year of experience in Oncology. For
general MS nurses must have 2 years of experience. Okay with First Time Travelers.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: None
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Pain medication drips/PCAs
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: We staff a charge on the floor each shift and they do not take patients.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? CNAs 1:8
- RT Equipment: CPAP, Hight Flow
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Tele techs. Must be able respond appropriately to life threatening rhythms.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7; Scheduling is done at the management level; For nights they do try to block shifts together, but ask travelers
are flexible and fill in schedule.
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, where they are needed to fill in our staffing holes
- Holiday Requirement: Will be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: No
- Floating Requirements: Travelers first to float; MS units; Can be asked to float to sister facilities of Meridan or Nampa
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Any color; No hoods.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: Yes- 2 days on the unit with a preceptor
- Additional Notes: Would prefer travelers with oncology and/chemo certifications. Would need chemo certifications to administer
chemo. Will accept MS travelers without onc/chemo experience, but must have 2 years of experience. They do take some higher
acuity patients than general MS units. Unit prides themselves on teamwork.
**This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles. To ensure adherence to this rule, we will require the candidates' perm address in the submittal to confirm they are outside of that specified radius before proceeding with the profile review.**
