Radiation Oncology Nurse - Non Exempt


# I.################## JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: # Under general supervision and in consultation with the responsible Radiation Oncologist, is responsible for coordinating, managing and communicating the plan of treatment to patients and their families.# Specifically, the nurse assists in communications with patients, triages patients and patient issues, performs symptom management and teaches patients regarding their disease process and treatment.# In addition, the nurse collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team and utilizes clinical outcomes data to support innovative and cost effective changes to clinical practice. # Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Experience At least 3-5 years of diversified, progressive oncology nursing experience in acute care and/or outpatient settings within the cancer care continuum.# Skills ######### Ability to assess, triage and document medical information pertinent to the oncology patient ######### Skill in oral and written communication to address patient/family and staff concerns. ######### Demonstrated skill in problem solving using available resources in innovative ways. ######### Interpersonal relationship skills in order to communicate effectively with the oncology care team. ######### Computer and personal productivity skills to enable effective use of e-mail, the Internet, and word processing packages. Licensures, Certifications Current Registered Nurse--State of Maryland OCN Preferred Current CPR Healthcare Provider ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Card or Certificate Preferred Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk at least 90% of work time; lift and position patients up to 50% of work time Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail, often in stressful situations Working Conditions Primarily in outpatient setting, close relationships with responsible medical oncologist and the oncology care team Conditions of Employment Maintain current licensure and certifications Standard Precautions Standard precaution policy and procedures are applicable to this job Patient Safety Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient safety as it relates to the job duties## #N/A Patient Population Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age-specific needs # Not applicable Neonate / Infant # # Pediatric# Adolescent# # Adult# Geriatric# I.
