Position Summary 12 North Bed Tower (NBT) is a 27- bed acute care general surgical and trauma unit. This unit cares for post operative surgical and trauma related patients. This department provides the opportunity to manage an array of tubes, drains, wound vacs, ostomies etc., and is ideal for those with a passion for wound/surgical site care. 12 North is a great unit to establish a foundation in surgical and trauma related patient care, foster growth and develop/ refine nursing skills while working with a team passionate about upholding positive work culture and a healthy work environment. 12 North is a great entry level department for those seeking future growth in higher levels of care, such as Trauma Stepdown, Surgical Stepdown and eventually Trauma ICU. Responsibilities Shift availability: Dayshift 0645-1915/ Nightshift 1845-0715 Status availability: Variable full time (36-40hr/ week) (3 twelve hr shifts per week) Responsibilities include: Assess patient's needs and develop individualized plans of care based on patient needs and responses. Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining expected outcomes. Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers. Functions as a patient and family advocate. Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/ or nurse clinician. Practices effective problem identification and resolution. Additional Responsibilities include: Participate and may lead unit level and/or organizational level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement. Participates in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance. Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education: Associates or Bachelors in Science of Nursing. Required Certifications and Licensures: Active FL RN license BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA). American Red Cross BLS will not be accepted.
