Completes pre-screening assessments of prospective patients. May assist Manager, Community Outreach in making the community aware of services available at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. May serve as the first point of contact for patients seeking clinical services. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Experience * 3 years of experience in rehabilitation; pediatrics preferred * 5 years clinical training in Nursing, Social Work, Physical or Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology * Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree * Strong demonstrated clinical skills; hospital experience preferred Education * Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation or related clinical discipline (including Nursing, Social Work, Speech Language Pathology) Certification Summary * Clinical license and/or certificate * Valid driver's license; Must have personal transportation (automobile in good working condition) and auto insurance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Ability to manage multiple and complex responsibilities * Exceptional verbal and written communications * Strong business acumen * Interpersonal skills/team player * Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, database management, web tools, EPIC) Job Responsibilities * Provides or arranges for screening for new patient referrals. * Completes all required documents (e.g., pre-screening and insurance authorization) for patient admission. * Demonstrates and practices family-centered care. * Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. * Communicates relevant information at the patient/family level of understanding. * Identifies patient/family need for service from ancillary departments and provides follow-up and referral as necessary. * Develops a network of referral sources to drive business and patient referrals. * Assists with community and professional programs, exhibits, and other activities that provide education about services at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. * Ensures high customer satisfaction, collecting appropriate data and reporting findings and recommendations within the context of program evaluation. * Behaves as a strong team player in all phases of interdepartmental responsibilities. Rehabilitation * Assists manager in determining needs of referral sources to ensure referring account needs are met. * Works with referring facility, medical staff, Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit team, other rehabilitation departments and payor to arrange for smooth inpatient admission. * Assists manager in managing budget goals for census and expenditures. * Travels on short notice throughout the state, southeastern United States, and nationally. * Meets all standard requirements established by Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Joint Commission, and other accrediting bodies. * Understands and complies with infection control, body substance precautions, safety, body mechanics, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and recommendations. * Participates in maintaining and monitoring work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
