UPMC Shadyside, a three-time Magnet-designated hospital, is currently hiring graduate and experienced Registered Nurses to support the Medical Oncology Unit, 6 Main. About the Position: 6 Main is a Medical Oncology unit specializing in a wide range of oncological diagnoses and is at the forefront of research. This is a ground unit for new and experienced nurses to develop and be a part of the future of cancer care. This unit primarily serves our lymphoma patients receiving chemotherapy and biological treatments. Nurses who work in this unit are developed and trained to administer and be a part of groundbreaking research in patient care. There are opportunities for growth and development through continued education opportunities and certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). 6 Main is UPMC Shadyside Hospital's Dedicated Education unit where clinical staff nurses serve as instructors for the University of Pittsburgh nursing students. These clinical staff nurses receive special training and opportunities to pursue further education at the university. The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $31.60. Qualifications: * Associate's Degree in Nursing, BSN, or MSN is required. * The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. * Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures. * Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, and handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. * Critical thinking skills are necessary to exercise and to lead others in the application of the nursing process. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: * Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. * UPMC-approved national certification is preferred. * Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire * Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
