Respiratory Therapist 2 (Nights)

The Department of Respiratory Therapy at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full time Respiratory Therapist 2 (Nights). The successful candidate will: * Provide respiratory care for patients under the direction of a physician. * Make rounds to determine if patient is receiving proper respiratory care. * Conduct ventilator management. * Draw and analyze blood for arterial blood gases. * Record respiratory progress of patients who are being ventilated mechanically. * Assist physicians in ventilating patients who can not sustain their own respiratory function during cardiorespiratory arrests. * Provide sputum induction. * Administer Nitric Oxide Therapy. * Explain the use of respiratory care devices to patients and/or family members and assist in the use thereof. * Make entries in patient's progress record and hospital computer systems. * Clean and decontaminate equipment once removed from patient use. Required Qualifications: * Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy or graduate of a 2-year AMA approved RT program. * Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). * New York State License. * BLS (to be obtained within 1-year of employment). Preferred Qualifications: * Registered Respiratory Therapist (RR) Work Schedule: Variable Days; 7:30PM to 8:00am (Nights) Salary Grade/Rank: SL-3 Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: An approved COVID-19 vaccination.
