RN Fellow Progressive Care Unit (Full-Time, Nights)


Fellow Program starts June 10, 2024 During the year-long Progressive Care Unit RN Fellowship program, the RN will work nights, 12-hour shifts with no call obligation. This role is a .9 FTE (36 hours/week) with the possibility of additional hours for education and training sessions. Upon successful completion of the program, the RN Fellow will graduate to a positioned, staff RN role within the department and work 12-hour shifts on night shift (1900-0730) with no call obligation. The positioned RN role will be a .9 FTE (36 hours/week). ST. POSITION OVERVIEW: The RN Fellow in this role will be expected to have the knowledge, skills, and ability to work independently after the didactic/precepted phase of the fellowship. Additional orientation to advance competencies may be required. The RN Fellow provides quality patient and family centered care under the direction and supervision of a certified preceptor in accordance with St. Charles Health System mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. Applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and all others. The RN Fellow with their preceptor will provide specific care to assigned patient(s) throughout the shift during the precepted phase, as required under the scope of the RN licensure. This nursing position will provide and oversee the provision of specific care to assigned patients throughout the shift, consistent with the scope of RN licensure ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques and applies this knowledge in accordance with St. Charles Health system policies and procedures and within laws and regulations governing nursing practice in the State of Oregon. Successful completion of all components of the St Charles Health System Fellowship. Assesses the patient's condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgement: sets outcomes; implements appropriate nursing actions and collaborates with other disciplines to meet the patient's/family's physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs; and evaluates patient's progress. Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with St Charles Health Systems policies and procedures for medication administration. Documents all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies. Demonstrate awareness of and supports St Charles departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activates. Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development of self. Communicates (both written and orally) effectively and maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guest. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification. Will then be required to maintain a minimum of 16 hours of trauma education every 4 years or continue TNCC certification. AVADE Training within 12 months of hire BEND - INTERMEDIATE CARE UNIT FELLOW: Additional Requirements: ACLS Basic ECG Course 12 Lead ECG course within 6 months of hire BEND - INTENSIVE CARE UNIT FELLOW: Additional Requirements: ACLS Basic ECG Course 12 Lead ECG course within 6 months of hire TNCC certification within 12 months of hire. Prior experience in emergency room setting (as ED tech or other caregiver) BEND- FAMILY BIRTHING CENTER: Required: 1 year of acute care RN experience. Fully trained and proficient in LDRP within 1 year of hire. Preferred: Recent RN postpartum experience and/or LDRP Senior Capstone. BEND - PROGRESSIVE CARE & INTERMEDIATE CARE UNIT FELLOW: Required: 1 year of acute care RN experience. Preferred: 2 years of acute care RN experience.
