Primary scheduled hours: 72 hours per pay period - 12 hour night shift Job Summary: Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Is able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Who are we? * Newport Hospital and Health Services is located in Newport, WA on the Washington-Idaho border. We are an independent rural healthcare provider. * Newport Hospital and Health Services consists of: * 24 bed Rural Community Hospital - Trauma Level IV * 15 providers Rural Health Clinic * 72 bed, high level care, Advanced Assisted Living Facility * 42 apartment; low-moderate care level Assisted Living Facility Education Background and Experience: Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. with up to six (6) months registered nurse experience. Required Licensure / Certifications: Current RN license with authority to practice in Washington State. Current BCLS Certification. ACLS Certified within six (6) months of hire. TNCC within one (1) year of hire. ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within one (1) year of hire or PALS within one (1) year of hire. NRP within one (1) year of hire. Required Experience: One (1) year of experience working in Emergency Dept. as a RN. Preferred Qualifications: Six (6) months registered nurse experience. Professional Requirements * Maintain regulatory requirements. * Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines. * Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District. * Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner. Essential Job Functions * Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. * Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population. * Uses triage process to ensure timely and appropriate care to patients. Accurately assigns triage categories. * Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. * Ability to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results. * Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately. * Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory's and the patient care unit's policies and procedures. * Ability to interpret the results of waived tests; takes appropriate action on waived test results. * Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition. Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range ($38.04 - $53.03/hour) dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation increment increases annually.
