Trauma, Stroke, and EMS Liaison Nurse Coordinator
The Trauma Coordinator will provide consultation in the care of trauma and stroke patients along with the follow responsibilities: * Promotes and maintains relations with EMS. * Coordinates, inputs, oversees, and finalizes data abstraction by third parties, if needed or deemed necessary by leadership. * Collaborates with directors and providers to design, implement, and maintain care systems, education, and resources to meet the needs of trauma & stroke programs. * As trauma and stroke coordinator, assists registry team to identify patients appropriate for the trauma and stroke registry and maintains a computerized registry. * Oversees collection and analysis of CQI data requisite for evaluation of the trauma and stroke services. * Works with performance improvement personnel, in coordination with trauma and stroke medical staff, to develop and maintain an effective, outcome-oriented system that meets regulatory agencies standards. * Establishes and maintains effective communication related to trauma, stroke, and EMS issues and regulations with Washington Department of Health staff. * Participates in appropriate local, regional, state, and national committees. * Serves as liaison to EMS on trauma and stroke programs related issues. * Assists in needs assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of teaching programs for trauma and stroke care providers and caregivers. * Serves as liaison to facilities injury prevention/awareness programs to prioritize community learning needs. * Provides leadership in formulating a philosophy of care and goals for trauma and stroke services. Provides leadership in trauma and stroke practices, consistent with trauma and stroke services goals and state/national standards. * Coordinates quarterly or as needed, trauma and stroke drills. * Obtains TNCC and SCRN instructor within first year. Participates in TNCC and SCRN courses, as available. * Uses trauma and mass casualty related research in development of care standards and guidelines. * Maintains hospital trauma and stroke plans. * Demonstrates good rapport and working relationships with all professional staff, community, patients, and families. * Demonstrates a willingness to learn and to remain flexible in the changing health care environment. * Demonstrates ability to prioritize and manage time appropriately.
