School Nurse - District Nurse

Job Title: School Nurse - District Nurse Category: District Nurse Fern Ridge School District is accepting applications for a district nurse position. This position will be a contracted postion at an agreed upon hourly rate, for somewhere between 150 - 250 hours a year. Contact the district with questions or for more information. Qualifications: The successful candidate will hold a valid Oregon license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities: ~ Establish and maintain nursing and school health records for students in accordance with state statute, rule, or practice. ~ Plan and implement health screenings. ~ Assess student health needs, including the preparation of routine and emergency student health protocols. ~ Delegate/assign, train, and monitor school staff or volunteers in identifying nursing tasks to meet the health needs of students. ~ Work closely with support staff, secretaries, and health clerks on immunization compliance and completion of school health records, according to FERPA and HIPPA standards. ~ Assist in the control of communicable diseases, including training to staff and students. ~ Serve as a member of IEP or CARE Teams as requested to assist in meeting the health needs of special education or Section 504 eligible students. ~ Act as a liaison between schools, medical providers, and families as needed in order ot make recommendations regarding the nature, scope, and intensity of services to be provided in the school setting. ~ Act as a liaison between district and local/state health and safety organizations and maintain knowledge of community resources.
