Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Float Pool - 36hr


Sign-On Bonus! Eligible candidates with 1+ years of nursing experience: $7,500 SUMMARY Provides general or specialized nursing care to patients in a variety of ambulatory settings and clinical practices. The float nurse will provide these services/support at various locations and must be able to travel to all Connecticut Children's locations, including distal satellite offices. Assignments at each of the different locations may range from a half day to weeks depending on the need of the department. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, Connecticut Children's policies, procedures and State and Federal regulations in order to promote the health, safety, and comfort of CT Children's patients and families. Reports to Ambulatory Nurse Manager. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Prioritizes, plans, provides direct family-centered care to patients within area of service throughout the continuum of care utilizing time and resources effectively and efficiently. Facilitates the flow of patients within the clinical practice. Partners with child and family in evaluating outcomes. Monitors, trends and evaluates child/family responses to treatment throughout scope of service. Provides appropriate education to patient/family regarding all aspects of care, including telephone advice, based upon established protocols. Serves as advocate for parents and families. Clearly documents all pertinent aspects of care, including: a plan of care; a regular summary of patient status and family adjustment; unexpected events of changes in patient condition; medications; and monitoring of vital signs, etc. Complies with CCMC policies regarding appropriate documentation. Networks with healthcare team by documenting and communicating comprehensive data including complex child/family needs to provide high quality care. Provides psychosocial support for patient, family and peers to promote healthier patient/family/team outcomes. Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families. Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CT Children's standards. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED * A minimum of ASN/ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. If ASN/ADN, must acquire BSN within 3 years of hire * Experience Required: Minimum 1 year RN experience * Experience Preferred: Medical Surgical / Pediatrics preferred LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED * Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse licensure required and maintained thereafter. * American Heart Association, or American Red Cross, Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification required upon hire and maintained thereafter * Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by department. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Knowledge of: * Demonstrates all of the CT. Children's Core Organizational Competencies or has potential to do so as well as any clinical competencies within specialty areas * Work with different specialties and teams * Travel to any Connecticut Children's location, including distal satellite offices, and has reliable transportation. * Learn and demonstrate competency in standard clinical procedures within specialty area, according to established protocols * Maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. * Learn and follow established protocols in order to initiate appropriate action in emergency/crisis situations * Effectively work in a team environment as well as collaboratively with all disciplines.

Average Connecticut Staff Position Pay

$39.28/hour
