The Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle is actively seeking Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 candidates to join the crew! What you'll do: Perform Specimen Processing Activities | Play a key role in patient care by performing specimen processing tasks such receiving, sorting and prioritizing specimens and requests; setting up bacterial susceptibility testing; matching specimens against requisitions for appropriate tube type; centrifuging and aliquoting specimens; processing timed urine collections; resulting and reviewing entries for all reference lab testing; performing blood draws on patients; and performing various computer functions. Provide Customer Service | Exercise your customer service skills by responding promptly, courteously, and professionally to phone, written, intercom, and window reception inquiries from clients about test information. Share Your Knowledge | Impart your laboratory wisdom by teaching, training, and sharing practical knowledge with other staff responsible for entering and managing entry of medical necessity, results, and/or manual billing; work with leadership to review and update procedures, policies, and job aids. Utilize Problem-Solving Skills | Resolve specimen or order-related problems in a timely, thorough and accurate manner and provide appropriate documentation for supervisor review. What you'll need: High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience OR Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology OR Equivalent education/experience. Harborview and UW Medical Center Specimen Processing and Remote Lab Division Requirements: Completion of a phlebotomy course Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the WA State Department of Health * If the new hire does not have an MA-P, they will be required to complete an in-house training program. As a condition of employment, the MA-P must be obtained within 90 days of the start date.
