Can be cross trained to mother/baby after 6 months. * Full Time; 36 hours per week * Night Shift; 7pm - 7am * Every 3rd weekend. * On Call: 24 hours of call in a six-week schedule cycle. Self-scheduled. * Previous L & D experience preferred or experienced Rn wishing to change specialties. * Unable to consider new grads currently. * We are seeking candidates with excellent customer service and communication skills, and a commitment to learning and implementing best practice care in a team-oriented environment. * Couplet ratio is 3:1. Minimum Requirements License and Certification * Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing * Basic Life Support (BLS) Education * RN-Associate's Degree * RN-Bachelor's Degree * RN-Diploma * RN-Master's Degree ABOUT THE FAMILY MATERNITY CENTER The Family Maternity Center is located away from the everyday flow to provide a peaceful, comforting environment for our moms and babies. * We have 24-hour coverage by board-certified pediatricians and anesthesiologists. * Lactation Specialists are available six days a week. * Infant security system to ensure safety for all of our newborns. * Ample space for dad, family member, or support person to spend the night. * Special affiliation with Children's Hospital for the King's Daughter (CHKD) if specialized care is required. * Partnership with several community outreach programs that include postpartum support groups and breastfeeding support groups. * Our unit is recognized as one of the top performing units for patient satisfaction. * U.S. News nationally recognized our Maternity Center in 2023 as a high performing hospital for maternity services. * We utilize evidence-based practice to promote up to date care for mom and baby such as Golden Hour and Skin-to-Skin. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. BSN or MSN preferred. Meets and maintains any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire. Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
