A Clinician Fellow is one who either has their ASN with 2+ years of experience and plans to gain their BSN or one who has their BSN with 2+ years of experience. UPMC Presbyterian Specialties: * Emergency Department * A state-of-the-art 44-bed Level I trauma and comprehensive stroke center, known throughout the Pittsburgh metro area for providing the best possible emergency care. The ED handles critically ill or injured patients; patient volume and acuity are variable and can change quickly, making the ED an extremely fast-paced, unpredictable environment where rapid problem-solving is necessary to address evolving needs and priorities. * Medical/Surgical * Adaptable acuity units serving patients that have received transplanted organs including kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, islet cell, or multi-visceral transplants. We also care for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, and surgical oncology patients undergoing complicated abdominal surgeries. * Adult Acute Care * Our diverse patient population of both step-down and monitored patients can include hepatology, urology, endocrinology, post-surgical complications, pulmonary, infectious disease and many more. * Cardiology * We care for patients with various cardiac diagnoses, including heart failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, cardiac rhythm disturbances, cardiac catheterization, post-pacemaker/ICD placement, and preparing patients for heart transplant and/or LVAD placement. We also have the ability for nursing staff to determine step down status care for our patients. * Neurosurgery/Neuro Trauma * specializing in the care of complex brain and spinal cord trauma, stroke, and various neurosurgical patients. neurosurgical unit specializing in the care of patients recovering from spinal surgeries and craniotomies as well as accepting overflow stroke population. brain tumor, spinal cord injury, head injury, and stroke * Trauma/General Surgery * Serving general surgical patients as well as toxicological and trauma patients. In addition to the broad variety of post-op patients we care for, we also receive overflow vascular and medical patients. * ICU * Nurses in our ICUs can expect to work with tracheostomies, line and drain placements, intubations, CRRT, and vasopressors among other types of specialty equipment and treatments. * Covid/Adult Acute Care * Telemetry Unit that supports diversity and inclusion in providing care for patients of all specialties such as transplant, cardiology, trauma, neurological, and medical surgical specialties. This unit embodies excellence and innovation in providing cutting edge therapies, with a focus on COVID care. * Resource Unit * A team of nurses designated to float to medical/surgical and critical care units alike. This group staffs all areas of UPMC Presbyterian/Montefiore allowing for an ever-changing work environment and opportunities to increase nursing skills in all specialties. Qualifications: * Minimum 2 years of nursing experience. BS/BSN preferred. * If BSN not at time of hire, must be enrolled in a program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment. MSN or CNL preferred. * Master's degree preferred. If BS degree not in nursing, a Master's or higher degree in Nursing is required. * The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. * Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures. * Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. * Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. * Exemplary clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. * Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process. * Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in practicing state. National Certification preferred.
