Job Description: DISTRICT NURSING SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY Provides leadership and supervision to the school health program district-wide; promotes health and safety at assigned school utilizing up-to-date practices; models those practices for nursing staff; intervenes with actual and potential health problems; advises administrators and other school staff on issues that promote an effective school health program. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervises and evaluates all school nurses and school health program. * Demonstrates leadership in the implementation of the school health program. * Develops policies and procedures for a comprehensive school health program in collaboration with the School Medical Advisor. * Initiates and/or participates in health related in-service and continuing education programs for school personnel. * Interprets the school health program and policies to parents and the community. * Recommends appropriate health facilities and equipment to school administrators. * Coordinates and orders school district health supplies. * Maintains regular clinical practice within some aspect of the school health program. * Coordinates the school health services program and communicates regularly with school administrators. * Provides consultation to school nurses and school administrators regarding complex health situations. * Organizes and facilitates nursing staff meetings. * Screens applicants for school nursing positions and makes recommendations to the Director of Human Resources. * Organizes and maintains a staff wellness program. * Participates in the budget preparation process for the school health program. * Determines appropriate school nurse staffing patterns. * Assumes responsibility for professional development. * Coordinates the collection of statistical information to meet reporting requirements. * Prepares required State of CT reports. * Provides year-end report to the Superintendent of Schools and New Canaan Board of Education. * Develops, plans, and coordinates orientation program for newly-hired nurses. * Performs other leadership duties as suggested by the Superintendent of Schools and/or the School Medical Advisor QUALIFICATIONS * Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Connecticut * Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing * National School Nurse Certification preferred * Minimum of five years experience as a school nurse * Current CPR certification Please complete the online application and upload a cover letter, resume, and letters of recommendation.
