Summary

The Charge Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care. The Charge Registered Nurse participates in patient and family teaching, provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Aligned with Nursing Unit Leadership, the Charge Nurse coordinates the delivery of nursing care and provides leadership by working cooperatively with medical, ancillary and support staff in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Current RN licensure in the state of Texas or Compact State required
• CPR certification required
• NRP within 6 months of employment required
• ACLS within 18 months of employment required
• Fetal Heart Monitoring certification within 6 months of employment
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification Required
  
  • Newly hired RNs must obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire.
  • RNs hired prior to June 30, 2023 must obtain certification within 6 months from 6/30/2023.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills.
